2023 Garden

  • ,
  • 0817.  Cut out 6 or so skinny culms that were leafless.  Then used axe to chop 4 or 5 runner roots.  Hoping for more new shoots next spring.
  • 08/16.  Watered and fertilized bamboo for 2nd time this summer.  First time did good for the plants.  Once this has a chance to settle for a day or two I will take my axe to the roots. Also have several leafless culms to chop off.
  • 07/29. No plants doing well. Tried first tomatoes – big bell – they were seedless, mushy and little flavor. Bummer.
  • 04/13. Planted one bell pepper know only as green bell pepper. Out in back in existing pot in the ground. Added potting soil and fertilizer. Watered with veggie fertilizer.
  • 4/03.  Three more planted.  Brandywine along side the driveway. Two weirdos out back … one grows tall and one is some weirdo thing I thought I’d try.  Need at least two cherries and that will be it.  Peppers should be available soon.
  • 04/01.  Planted first tomato seedlings. Bought them. Both Early Girl.  One on side of house, one in back.
  • 04/01.  Garden different this tear.  Not using beds because of gopher intrusion and changing pattern of sun light due to trees surrounding garden getting bigger.
